As a teacher, I strive to share my passion and excitement for my students in each and every class.
My teachings are grounded in the traditional lineage of Hatha yoga, based on the Ashtanga Primary series with Iyengar alignment, using blocks and straps. With an awareness of the breath, we work through a sequence of physical asana (postures) ending with a long savasana to fully relax the body.
I like to practice outside in the open air close to nature. Classes are more of an experience than a teacher-led class, using incense, music, china balm, essential oils, and a Tibetan singing bowl. Throughout the class I make verbal and physical adjustments, so the student feels the correct alignment in their body.
Yoga is about creating space, both in body and mind. When focusing on breath we increase our lung capacity. When practising the physical asana we stretch and create space in our muscles, joints and fascia. Whilst practising and in meditation, we focus the mind’s attention, thereby removing thoughts and creating space in our minds to come into the present moment. Where there is space, energy flows and where energy flows, wellness transpires.
